Doves represent peace and the Holy Spirit in the Bible. In the narrative of the Great Flood, Noah released a dove to learn if it the flood waters had receded. When it came back with an olive leaf, he knew his journey would soon come to an end.
In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit manifested Himself as a dove a Jesus' baptism. This is one of the times when all three persons of the Godhead were revealed at the same time.
Doves are found in Christian art and on tombs in Rome because of the symbolism in the Bible. I use doves in the Peace Collection. The inspiration for the collection is John 14:27.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
It's important to remember that Jesus has given us this gift and that we can be peaceful during challenging times. Click here to see the Peace Collection and here to see jewelry with doves.
